  1. no

  2. In Cross Country aren't you running around the countryside?

Because if you were you wouldn't need spikes as the spikes would either break or fall out when you ran on rocks/gravel etc. You can buy "Waffles" as they are called which have spikes but they are not metal, there plastic. They are also called Cross Country Shoes or Training Shoes.

    Hope I helped :D

  3. There are also waffles, which are pretty much like distance spikes, but they have no spikes.

Distance spikes are good for dirt terrain.

Waffles are good for courses that have concrete

But for practice, use regular running shoes- they have more support

  4. You should get just running shoes to train in, but for races and such, I would say you should buy flats ( flats are light-weight and helps you move faster in races). You can buy flats at Snail's Pace. It shouldn't be too expensive.

  5. no! you dont want spikes. those are for running on a track, if you wear them on anything else, like concreate or dirt, the spikes full out. they have shoes for specifically cross country. (or just get regular running shoes) they have them at academy for sure. and im sure there are other places too.

  6. Fit is always the most important thing when buying shoes.  For CC light weight is good and traction if it's off road.

  7. I'd recommend getting a good pair of distance spikes. Similar to sprint spikes but have a heal to offer support, as well as when running long distance you do not need to be on your toes consistently.

Head to your local running room they are so helpful!

  8. There are such shoes called distance spikes. They're like a sprinter's shoe except it has a heel, and it's supposed to support comfort while you're running distance. It's also supposed to make you a couple seconds faster. But it's also best to use running shoes, if desired.

    Good luck!

  9. whatever you do dont run long distances in sprinters spikes

they dont offer the support that your feet need

buy a pair of distance spikes which are very lightweight but have a good heel and arch support for races they are around $50

get some trainers for training which will be around 80

  10. This is coming from a former shoes salesperson, cross country and track runner - not sprinting shoes, but spikes.  They have long distance shoes that have spikes and LOOK like sprinter's shoes.  You really need to get on Eastbay (I think that's what it's called) or find a mag, they really have a great selection of shoes.  I worked at Finish Line and they have nothing but sprint, baseball and soccer spikes and Footlocker has even less.  You might try d**k's, but in general, their shoe selection is rather small.  Good luck this season!  It's a great sport, teammates usually stick together b/c if you don't run miles upon miles, you just don't get it.  :-)

  11. No, you don't want sprinting spikes for XC. This being said, there are shoes for XC that would benefeit you:

Flats: Light weight trainers. They're extremly minimalist and light (<6oz) and meant for longer distances and all varietys of terrain (great for XC if you know your courses will have pavement).

Track Spikes: Some spikes are fine. Obviously don't use sprinting, jumping or throwing spikes for XC though. Distance spikes (both rubber and plastic plated) will be fine for XC. TONS of people use track spikes in XC; it's extremely common. Don't use the plastic plated spikes if theres going to be a lot of pavement however. Rubber plated spikes are ideal for XC, however plastic plated are usually better quality.

  12. Spikes if is very wet ground otherwise roadrunners if dry

  13. spikes will only slow down a distance runer.
