Do I need the same brand?

Okay, I have an hp computer system, and I was wondering if I need an hp monitor or if i can hook it up to any brand of monitor...thanks!

Brand doesn't really matter, but you have to check if the monitor is compatible with PCs/Macs or whatnot. Some are universal, and some only work on certain types because the hardware inside the computer may not be compatible, but brand usually makes no difference. Just check if the monitor works on PC's; you'll have to install a driver.

Yeah my Dell has a Samsung LCD hooked up to it (vastly superior to the original, leviathan of a CRT). Like the person before said, It should come with a driver, usually on a CD that has to be installed, or you can get it on the web, check your user manual for more information
