In the folder C:\WINDOWS there are a bunch of files: KB(followed by a bunch of numbers). I'm not sure if anyone knows what I'm talking about, but I just wanted to know if these were files I needed on my computer or if I could delete them...

  1. they are the Knowledge Base updates from microsoft, mainly security updates that you get through windows updates.

  2. OH GOD, just leave that folder alone. those are system files that make your computer work

  3. There are also folders named KBxxxxxx.  They are the "undo" folders from Windows updates.  They are there in case the updates go wrong and you can undo it.  The files named KBxxxxxx.log are just log files to record if the corresponding updates went OK or not.  If you really need the hard drive space, you can delete ONLY the KB files and folders.
