Question:

Do I need to bring a resume for UPS package handler position?

I'm a college student, and I was applying for a part time job at UPS. The position I applied for is package handler, and I'm about to make an appointment to meet with them.

I was wondering would I need to bring a resume to the appointment? I mean it's a pretty "low" job. I've never had a job before. I recently graduated high school, and I'm going into my second year of college. So I'm not sure what I would put in my resume...suggestions welcome.

Someone with experience please reply.

Thanks!

  1. yes its better to have one and not need it than not have one at all

I used this resume writing service in my area, this is the email address, (resume.help50@yahoo.com) you should try them, it only cost me $35.00 and I got a great job from this new resume, I never thought about the format that they use but the turn around time was less then 24 hrs. I would have to say it was the best service I have ever used and it was worth every dime. Also they let me pay through paypal.

  2. In my personal experience I've always tried to submit a resume and cover letter to every job I've applied for and I've gotten everyone that I've submitted one for (for the most part). It shows that you really want the job. It shows that you were willing to go that extra step that a lot of people who've applied for the position might not do because like you said it's a "low end job". Regardless of position you should treat it as if it were a million dollar job. To you it's just a meaningless job to make some extra cash but to the employer it's an important job in the company. In other words you should create a resume and cover letter if possible. In your resume you should include your qualifications, your objective, your education and since you have no employment history then volunteer experience. Think back to all the little things you did no matter how big or how small they count and they add up. It could be something as small as volunteering to read to some kids once or twice. To an employer that shows your character and commitment.  Hopefully you have done volunteer work otherwise be ready to possibly have to explain why at your age you haven't even had a part- time job maybe after school, in the summer or something. Hope this helps!!! :-)
