  1. the knot(.com) has a great checklist on it of everything that u need to be doing at whatever point you are in in planning.. i love this site its great.. u can even put ur invites, rsvps, and so on and so forth..

however in the local paper here in va i cut out an add that gives u a bunch of free stuff and a wedding planner book was one of them..

i also have a book called DIY weddings and it helps out ALOT..

    good luck and congrats!

  2. You do not need to buy the book there are many GREAT resources online...

  3. I did my with an online planner it was much more organized.

  4. i wouldn't waste the money on a book!  that was the first thing that all of my newly married friends told me when i first got engaged!  no reason to!  if you don't do it online, then find a wedding magazine that comes with the  wedding planning/timeline insert, there always seems to be one of those in some wedding magazine!

    best of luck and congrats!

  5. You don't need to buy a book or a special planner ... you can get tons of advice and tips online for free.

Theknot.com and its message boards are a great, free resource. Also check out the Martha Stewart and Real Simple websites - they have pages dedicated to weddings. MSN.com and the Today Show website have some articles as well.

Search for free websites online that can help you track your lists (budget, guests, seating charts, etc.), or use Excel spreadsheets and Word documents.

If you want something tangible to carry around, buy a binder for a dollar, insert some paper and folders, and organize things that way. Tape vendors' business cards to the folders, file away printed Internet photos or magazine pages that you want to show vendors, take notes during your meetings and file away your contracts (make a few copies of important stuff and leave it in a safe place at home).

  6. Congrats :)

    1. Here's the budget file I use... change the fields accordingly but first look at everything: http://www.vertex42.com/Links/go.php?url...

    2. Get a wedding planner book or just use online ones. They're all the same. Better yet go to a wedding show and they usually give it for free.

All details are in the book or online: http://www.blissweddings.com/wedding_pla...

    All the best :)

  7. You don't need a book.  I started online accounts and I am doing it all that way (it's easier to keep track of from multiple locations (home/work) and things are more automated (the budget planner automatically breaks things down for you and then you can adjust them).

I have had 2 wedding planning books given to me as gifts since I got engaged.  I tried to use them because they are really great books, but I find I am just re-writing down what I already have online.  Everything in the books is already online for free.  Save a few bucks and put it towards something at your wedding (your garter or something). lol.

  8. The most inexpensive route for you to go is to search online for wedding timelines.  Get yourself a nice planner and document the days where certain things should be done.

Another option is to download a planner type software.  The one that I use is "The Organized Wedding Consultant".  You can do everything with this software.

    Hope this helps

  9. Don't waste your money.

You can find anything on the internet. My saving grace is www.theknot.com  They even have a 12-month time line.

    It's great!

  10. Skip the book.  I find most be be missing info and not so helpful.  Sign up on theknot.com and they have a wonderful checklist and you can even add your own items.  Get a binder or folders for you ideas and magazine cut outs.

  11. I have the best thing for you , you can create a wedding website for FREE , which has all , wedding planner , online invitations , guest book, budget tracker ...........for all this visit

    www.ourwedding.in

  12. do it online at weddingwire.com

  13. It's always good to have ideas from other sources and is good to have somebody with the experience. You can search on-line for web sites about wedding planing. I own a catering business and event planing in florida, I know every place and could help you plan your special day. My contact info is 407-346-3282 Heralynn  e-mail mdkmyloves@yahoo.com. Wish you the best. Be bless in Jesus name.

  14. I used neither, and our wedding turned out great. You know how you are. If you need tons of organization, get both.

  15. do an online planner.

    A gr8 resource would be theknot.com

    its a fantastic message board

  16. You don't have to. BUT it has a lot of details that you might not think about. I got The Complete Wedding Planner and Organizer. It's purple. You can find it at any big chain bookstore. It's like $30 and is a 3 ring binder, so you can print out things and punch holes! It comes with a hole-puncher! TheKnot.com is also a great website to put in your guest list and budget planning.
