I have factory tweeters already, would I need to buy crossovers for aftermarket tweeters or would there already be some? How powerful do tweeters really need to be?

  1. If you are simply replacing\upgrading the tweeters then nothing additional is needed. If you see a resistor on the stock tweeter remove it and use it on your aftermarket tweets. NO they do NOT all have crossovers. It all depends on what you drive. The tweeters in Fords "premium" systems like the Mach units receive do not have crossovers. Their tweeters are wired independently from the woofers and the bass is removed by the deck or amp. If you are not using a aftermarket stereo this is not a issue. Just make sure if you do see a resistor on the stock ones then you use it on the new tweeters.

  2. If you look on the factory tweeter there should be a cap on it to cut the low from hitting the tweeter. You should also make sure you have a cap on the new tweeters so as not to fry them. The new ones should come with something.  Some cars have wiring that run from a crossover system so the wires from the head unit might have something inline. But you want to make sure you have the right spec cap on the new tweeters as 4ohm and 8ohm will use different specs on the caps. I use to only use mylar non polarized caps as they sounded the best. This is the easiest way to explain this with out getting into 6db high pass and 12db with caps and coils.

  3. nnnnnnnope the tweeters come with a built i cross over and if u get another one it'll just lessen the volume on the tweeters

if you won't be getting an amplifier for the tweeters then you need to make sure that they are 91 92 93 or 94 db so that they'll make good use of the power they get and 60-100 watts rms is great

30-40 watts suck with no amp

  4. almost every aftermarket tweeter comes with a built in crossover...the quality of the crossover that it comes with depends on the brand of the tweeter...I really don't know if the car already has a crossover for the factory tweeters...but i supposed that it should have one...(not 100% sure)...but like I said almost all aftermarket tweeters have a built in crossover....just make sure to buy a good quality tweeter..some aftermarket tweeters come with external crossovers...(more expensive but better quality)
