Before you go to Nigeria I would look at the foriegn office advice for travellers.....Don't go there, it's prety horrendous right now.

I don't think airlines will sell you a ticket to countries which need a visa unless you can prove you've already got one.  They have to bring you back if you arrive illegally, so they're not going to take the risk.

NEVER buy a ticket BEFORE getting a visa.   You could be refused the visa.   Maybe unlikely but always possible.   This basic rule applies to any country where visas are necessary.

YOu shold ASK THE CONSULATE. eVERY COUNTRY IS DIFFERENT.

sOME OF THEM NEED THAT INSURANCE TO SEE THAT YOU HAVE A RETURN FLIGHT AND THAT YOU ARE PLANNING TO GET BAck to your country.

I bought my plane ticket before i applied for the visa and my visa was granted twice...no problem

Yes it would be advisable to get the visa before buying a ticket as if you are refused a visa for any reason then you can't visit there. There could also be a problem with you nit getting it on time for you to fly. Sort put the visa then get your ticket.

You need to consult their Consulate in your country but I would suspect that you would at least need to know your travel plans first such as what flights are available and where you would be staying.

I hope you are not planing on going there to pick up the 3 million dollars they sent by email.  :-)   ( reference to the notorious Nigerian email scam )
