Do I need to change my TVs to get the Digital signal next year?

With the new Digital signal comming in of Feb/09 I dont know if I have to replace my TVs or just buy a new antena for the digital signal.

  1. If your TV does not have an ATSC tuner, you'll need a box.  You do NOT need a new antenna though.  Digital TV is broadcast in the same frequency spectrum as analog TV, so your existing antenna will still work fine.

    If you decide to go cable or satellite, you won't need to replace the TVs either, since you'll get converter boxes there as well.


  2. If you have cable or satlelite you don't need to do anything.

    If you get TV over the air (ie with an antena) then you will need a converter box.

    The government is offering coupons worth about $40.

    Converts cost about $50-$60 at Wal-mart.
