  1. I was in Vietnam (Hanoi, Halong Bay, Nha Trang Mui Ne and Ho Chin Minh City) a few months ago. Don't think malaria pills are needed. Insect repellent would be sufficient unless you plan to take some offbeaten track somewhere. (But I don't remember getting any mosquito bites even though I was in shorts)

A Hep A vaccination would be useful perhaps. The doctors I saw recommended it.

    Hope this helps

  2. Hey - I live in Vietnam now for 3 years and I don't eat Malaria pills every day!

Malaria is only "available" in the Mekong Region, but still, if you use the lotion against Mosquitos you should be fine.

If you should get a sudden fiever after visiting the Mekong Region, you should see a doctor immediately.

And, don't worry, f.e. the Franco-Vietnamese-Hospitals in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City a really good.

The most important shots are Hepatitis A + B, there are also combination shots on the market, kind of "2 in 1"

    Thypus?

Well, if you plan a trekking tour through the mountains with drinking puddle water - yes.

    Yellow fiever?

    No!

So, don't panic - enjoy your stay!!!

  3. ask your primary doctor if you need any vaccinations.

  4. I think you do need malaria pills, and maybe some vaccinations.  Here is the Center for Diseae Control's website for recommended vaccinations for Southeast Asia:   http://www.cdc.gov/travel/seasia.htm#vac...   And here's their page on Malaria: http://www.cdc.gov/malaria/index.htm  and  http://www.cdc.gov/malaria/distribution_...

Here's page pm Malaria Pills:  http://www.mousetourstravels.com/malaria...   It always pays to be cautious.  It's good to check with a travel medicine doctor too.

    Happy travels!
