Question:

Do I need to get Windows Vista Basic Upgrade or just Windows Vista Basic?

I installed XP but the installation got half way through, due to a faulty disk. I want to upgrade to Vista, but i've noticed that the Upgrade version is a lot cheaper than the usual version. Can I use the upgrade version even though I only got half way through my installation of XP?

XP has run on the computer before.

  1. Stay away from any Windows Vista operating systems. I work in an IT department and we've had so much trouble with Windows Vista that we are now downgrading everything back to Windows XP PRO. Vista has too many problems. Windows XP was the operating system that Microsoft finally got right. Windows Vista was and is a complete  failure.

  2. you have to first install XP then upgrade it or it will not work,

anyway, vista basic is very c**p and i highly recommend that you dont get it.

get vista premium at least, dont get business as that is also c**p

    Hope this helps =)

  3. dont use vista..... xp is lot better the vista.... xp just sucks the Ram and cpu.... like helll

only install vistal when u have 2gb ram and 512 or 256 mb graphic card....

  4. @giancarlo. You either work as IT technician in your dreams or you have never see windows vista on a computer. If you had you wouldn't say bullshit like this.Vista for networked computers is so easy that your job as administrator can be in jeopardy.I work with Vista for over a year now and I'm laughing with illiterate people like you.Vista is a great and powerful operating system and if you try it one day you will see that too.

As for the question,if you have a valid copy of windows XP you can use the upgrade

  5. do not install vista if you do you will be sorry. I had a new dell with vista already installed on it. I had so many problems with it that i went and bought the vista ultimate upgrade that was $200.00 down the drain. all it did was put another media player on my pc and it still froze up all the time. so i upgraded to XP and it worked fine. if you use limewire or bittorrent you can download XP from there. or you can find a cheap replacement. just do a web search for cheap windows XP.
