My husband and I were both virgins when we got married (just over a month ago). I have read that all women who are sexually active need to be tested regularily...but is it necissary for someone who has only ever been with one partner who was also a virgin before?

  1. A woman needs to have a Pap test done every year. ...it's should be done as a regular check up. don't you want to be protected for cervical cancer and other things. Good Luck.

  2. Yes, anyone who is sexually active or has had their period should be tested. It isn't just for STDs, it also screens for cancers and abnomalities.

  3. The first answer is right...everyone should  get one, even if you and your husband were virgins.

  4. every sexually active woman needs them done approx once every 3 years. go for a general womans check up and enquire cant do any harm i guess.

  5. Yes.  HPV is carried by men and although it isn't harmful to their health, it is for women.  Besides, it is good to get tested for cervical cancer and other issues as well and if you are planning for a baby now would be a perfect time to go.

  6. Congratulations on your marriage and being virgins when you married.  Getting an annual pap test is part of a woman's normal preventative health care routine.  You are not just being tested for STD's with a pap smear.  A baseline smear on record will assist your ob/gyn with future evaluations if any abnormalities are found.

While remaining a virgin until you were married was a good move, it does not take away the necessity to check the cervical area for abnormal growth of cells which could be cancerous.  Do get an annual pap smear.

  7. Yes!  Paps are very importatnt, you should get one every year.
