Do I need to get my wisdom teeth taken out?

I was told a few months ago that it looked like my wisdom teeth were beginning to come in, so I had to take care of my root canal first. After that I was suppose to come in to have an exam done but it never happened.

Anyway last night I was just chilling with my bro, and ran my tongue over my back jaw and felt some discomfort, checkd in the mirror and low and behind there were the top parts of my first wisdom tooth!

So my question is, since I know it will take weeks for it to be authorized to remove my wisdom teeth, do I really need to get them taken out?

  1. You won't nede to take them out unless they cause yuo trouble. yuo will have to expect them to hurt when they are coming out. its just part of life. Its only if your mouth isn't big enough for the new tooth or if the com out side ways or something that you need to take them out. Otherwise its really no poinjt in taking them out, as its not that comfortable to get them out either.

  2. of course you dont need to take them out

  3. You don't HAVE to have them removed.  They only time a dentist or opthamologist will advise that you have them removed is if you don't have enough room in your mouth (ie, your jaw is too small and they are growing in sideways or jamming your other teeth) or if they are creating nerve damage to your other teeth.

Some people never get their wisdom teeth.  I know a lot of people from Ireland/Scotland areas never get theirs...at least those I know.

I am 26.  I have only gotten 2 of mine in, and I don't plan to have mine removed because they aren't creating an issue.  I had xrays done about 3mos ago, and the dentist said he didn't see the other two, so I probably only have two wisdom teeth.

My husband is 34.  He's never gotten a wisdom tooth in.  (LOL...there's a lot of jokes I could say here....hehe)

  4. only get them taken out if they are hurting you
