Do I need to get new car insurance?

If I have prepaid my car insurance policy for 6 months, and then move to a state that that company doesn't service, will my policy still be in effect, or will I need to go with a different carrier?

  1. Your vehicle is insured. No insurer sells a policy that is good in only one state! However keep in mind that if you are registering your vehicle in the new state you should also be insuring it there as well. So find a broker in the new state who can insure your vehicle there and take out the policy, and then cancel the insurance on your old policy.

  2. First you need to phone your insurance company to determine if they will still be able to cover you in your new state.  If they will, then great leave insurance as is.

You'll want to research this some more....

    Have a nice day.

  3. hello , ok you paid 4 6 months up from , as long as you have active insurance you can switch it with any agency . They are the ones that find a company 4 u at no charge , all your really doing is changing agents they link to all insurance company's. Dont let them tell u other wise or they will charge u for something u already  have.                                                                                                                      The other thing you can do is just ride out ur policy its legal and a month before it expires look 4 another insurance agency .

  4. Check with your current insurer.

  5. There you have it; the insurance company you currently have does not service the new state, therefore your car is technically not insured.

I recommend you contact the insurance company for a reimbursement check of the prepayment.

Best to find a new insurance company for your car.
