  1. Yes.  It will be VERY expensive because you are under 25 and considered an inexperienced driver.  If you aren't on their insurance, then if you are in an accident you won't be covered.  The rule is, if the people live in the same household they all must be on the same policy in order to be covered during an accident.

Bottom line.  If you aren't on their insurance policy and you get in an accident, you are not covered.

  2. You already are! Under the law, because you reside in their household and are of driving age,you cannot be made an exclusion.

  3. Area is dead wrong.

Most policies state, you HAVE to list household members on the policy, for them to be fully covered driving a household car.  Some policies specifically state, we ONLY cover listed drivers, period.

Most policies - but not all! - will give you 30 days from the date you get licensed, to call the insurance company and add you.  But you have to add you back to the date you got your license.

AND, you CAN exclude a household member on a policy.   You have to sign a form, the insurance company has to be willing to do it, and it can be done.

There's no automatic coverage for household members, without paying for them, especially if they are kids.  Think about it.  If there was, no one would EVER list their kids on their policies!!
