I am thinking about being a boy scouts leader without previously joining boys scouts. I know that joining boys scout isn't required. However must I have kids to be one.

  1. The previous answer is, to some extent, true.

I used to be a Cub-master, and an Assistant Scoutmaster.  I have no children, and I am certainly no pedophile.Nobody suspected me of being one.

If you have a nephew, or a friend with a son in the Cub Pack, or in the Scout troop, or you used to be a Scout yourself, then you will be welcomed.

I have known fatherless boys that asked a adult male neighbor, or their moms' boyfriend to be their leader.  Some police officers, or clergy that have no children become leaders.

True if you don't have a son, or a close friend with one in scouts, you may not be so welcomed, for reasons stated by the other person that answered.

If you can somehow keep boys from joining gangs and get them to go on to college, and make smiting of themselves then you are doing the right thing.
