Question:

Do I need to lock the carry-in luggage for international travel?

I was wondering if I have to lock my carry-in luggage for the long international travel this weekend. I have 2 TSA locks, and planned to use them for the check-in luggages.

Will an ordinary lock be fine for the carry-in? Or, do I need a TSA? Or, Can I just leave it unlocked?

  1. You do not need to lock your carry-on...should be in your possession all the time anyway.  I really prefer to put it under my seat than up above where another person could take it if I am in the bathroom or during the de-boarding confusion.

  2. Unless you want the lock cut off for inspection, gaurenteed on an international flight, you'll want to use a TSA lock. As well you should lock it so others can not use your luggage for smuggling ect.
