  1. thin set and s***w down d/rock over it first then tile.

  2. seal it first, with any oil based product,  do not use a latex product without sealing it first with an oil based product.

  3. with the movement of the bench top if you don't use a hardi backer board or the new stuff that looks like an egg crate the movement will cause the grout to crack and the tiles to pop

  4. No need to prime it, just put tile adhesive on then start tiling.

  5. Never use cipboard, marine ply, take it from me, have been plastering/tiling for 25 years

  6. PVA will seal it, but as the consequences of damp getting to the board are that it will go soggy, give it two coats.  One dilute then full strength and use lots of waterproff (not water resistant) cement and good waterproof grout.

  7. Due to the flexibility of chip board or plywood, it would be highly recommended to use wonder board or concrete board over the USB then put ceramic with thin set and grout.

  8. Yes you do i recommend unibonding or coating with PVA Glue as this will make it water proof and will seal the wood so when the tiles are fixed onto the board if water was to get behind the tiles it will not turn into damp.

  9. pout down concrete or cement board.  Your title will crack or pop with just particle board underneath it.

  10. coat it with diluted PVA glue a couple of times to seal it
