Do I need to prime pressure treated wood before I paint it?

Question

I am redoing my porch railing. I have pressure treated 2x6. I plan on applying two coats of exterior water based paint. Should I also prime before I paint.

Don't paint it. If you paint it then it will chip over time. Pressure treated wood needs to be stained. Maybe a semi-solid or solid stain may work. Contact a paint store and they will help direct you in buying the right stain you need.
