I am trying to get some more powerful speakers for a 2008 Cobalt LS with the standard 4 speaker setup. What steps are necessary to make this happen? Does the oem cd player/dash unit ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OEM-RADIO-CD-PLAYER-CHEVY-COBALT-2008-PART-25775626_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ38641QQihZ017QQitemZ270240832233QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW#ebayphotohosting

) need to be removed? I would hope not but if need be.. , Has anyone here had experience replacing a relatively new car's standard speaker setup? I've been doing some researching online but if any one has any little hints or suggestions, feel free. I don't quite understand, just hook up an amplifier to the speakers I install, and connect the stereo head unit to the amp? is this the basic concept?

  1. all you gotta do is pop out the old speakers and pop in the new ones. jsut find out what wires are positive and negative.  however the new speakers will sound better if you upgrade the stock cd player to something aftermarket. and also if they are decent quality speakers, they will sound amazing if you amp them. if you amp them you can keep your oem player and still have an amazing sounding system. to hook up an amp to a stock player you need to look for an LOC ( line out converter) this converts the speaker wire into the RCA that is needed to send sound to the amp. good luck
