Question:

Do I need to remove the rear and front sights of my Crosman 760B to attach a scope to it?

I have a Crosman 760B, and thanks to some answers to a question I had about a scope, I have decided to go out and get one. Now I have one more question, do I need to remove the rear and front sights of my rifle to attach the scope to my rifle? I'm fairly new at this, so I don't have any knowledge or tools to do this. Please help! Thanks

  1. Nope. The scope will slide onto the 3/8ths inch dovetail and have plenty of clearance (say 1/4 inch) between the top of the rear sight and the bottom of the scope tube. While it will make the iron sights unnecessary, you won't need to or probably want to remove them since that would be rather permanent and would prevent you from using them again if you later decide you don't want to use the scope sight.

As a side note, the only tool you'll need to attach the scope is a Phillips screwdriver.

    No,

The Crosman 764sb is another version of the 760.

As you can see from the photo, there is no need to remove the iron sights to mount a scope on your 760.
