Question:

Do I need to renew my retainer?

My braces was off about 2 years ago and I have been wearing my retainers regularly [might have forgotten them for a day or two].

However, this summer holiday, I've spent about 3 months without them because I left them in my apartment. When I got back to them, sadly but true, I can't put the lower one back on because of a tooth that got crooked. The top one was rather tight but still ok. After a while, I managed to put the lower one back on. My lower front teeth are now feeling rather painful because of the retainer(duh!) but the retainer fits now.

Question:

1. Was it the teeth moving back or the retainer loosing it's shape?

2. Should I just stay with my retainer or get a new one?

ps: getting back to my orthodontist is a troublesome one as i got my braces when i was living overseas.

Thank you all and if you are in your "retainer period", please WEAR your retainer. You wouldn't want to lose that brilliant smile gotten after all those painful years.
