Question:

Do I need to upgrade my golf clubs?

I have had my beginner's golf set (one of the 18 pcs sets with the golf bag and all, which I got for only $100 USD at a TJ Maxx) for over three years now. They've served me well over the years. I think my golf skills are about intermediate, definitely not advanced, but I hit the ball everytime in proper form and all.

BUT, I'm not hitting for, probably at most 75, even with my #1 driver. Should I upgrade my golf clubs? Do better golf clubs have THAT much of an effect on improvement?

Thanks.

  1. If your only hitting 75 yards with a one wood you definately need a new set of clubs... again it might not just be the clubs i don't know but you should be shooting at least 200 yards + with a one wood maybe a little less if you are a woman

  2. i think you should get a new set.

  3. I agree .. If your only hitting it 75 yards with a driver .. something is wrong. you need to work on your swing and how you hit the ball.. A driver should go 250 even with the old ones if you connect with it .. All clubs have a sweet spot... hit the ball in it and you will see your ball go a little further then 75 yards...go to the range and pick out a person who you see is smashing them straight and long .. watch there form and study it and then try and do it yourself .. read some tips and at the most go to a course that hasa pro and pay for a lesson. You might need it .. and you might love the outcome

  4. First of all upgrade your technique , the ability to hit a golf ball longer and more accurately. Once you do this consistently,is the time to focus on equipment. You want skills better than intermediate. Good technique will work with any set of clubs.
