  1. Factory waxes are pretty good, the only way to get a better wax is to have a hand wax by someone who is good.  The average hot wax you will get at a shop or resort will not be as good as a factory wax.

Don't sharpen your edges.  The edges will already be sharp as it is a brand new board.

Just mount your bindings and ride as is.  The only reason to do anything to it is if you are an experianced rider with definite preferences, such as dulling the edges.

  2. New boards often come with a "factory wax".  I always clean the base of any new board with a citrus base cleaner and then apply my own hot wax before riding it.  I have two reasons for this: 1) the factory wax is an inexpensive wax that is applied to protect thee base until it is sold. 2) The wax is typically clotted with dirt (look at what comes up when you clean it!)

No, you don't "need" to wax your new board, but cleaning and re-waxing is not a bad idea either.

  3. That is a nice board. Pretty expensive too. Anyways, most likely not, you will not need to wax it because the lux is pretty new so the wax should be new also. Unless its been used, which most likely not becausse you said brand new. haha. If you want, you may sharpen the edges. Its usually wise to sharpen edges before every ride. Sharpening edges takes only about 3 minutes to do.

  4. I would wax it, although you don't have to.  The more you wax, the more saturated your board becomes, and pretty much has a slicker ride.  But that doesn't mean massive amounts of wax is good.  I read it actually creates more friction and slows you down.  Never tried it with a lot myself.  Anyways, it's preferable that you wax after every trip or every other trip.  To the person who said to sharpen your edges if you want to, the case with most boards is that they're too sharp.  I would detune a little.

  5. no. its already waxed when brand new.

now after you use it...for me, a 3 season-mammoth-passholder, i get it done after 4 weekend trips.  if that's too much you can tell when it's severely due after your runs are not as smooth like snow sticking to the bottom of your board noticeably harder to maneuver.

best to do it yourself, search via internet, cuz its cheaper.

  6. WAX it your self even if the shop did wax the board it takes multiple hot waxes to saturate the base for good gliding.  A wax of the base every 2-3 days will preserve the base and make riding easier and maybe more enjoyable.
