Question:

Do I need urgent care, or what?

So my employer's insurance changed recently, and I have not received my insurance card yet. I don't have a group number or member ID number, and Aetna's website and phone numbers refuse to recognize my SSN. I believe I have pink eye, and need to get the antibiotic eye drops immediately. I have found an urgent care center close to me covered by Aetna, but just want to know what to expect when I get there, with no information, and Aetna's phone are automation only on the weekend. Any advice?

  1. I work for a med office and run into this often, you can go and tell them that you have ins and haven't received a card yet and they sometimes can find it online or they will bill you and you can fax them the card when it arrives. Also if you have a Walgreens or CVS nearby with a clinic those are cheaper and quicker. There is also OTC pink eye drops. Good Luck!

  2. If you know u have valid insurance without an insurance card, gather insurance information.  If your eye is really that bad and you cant wait, you should try calling your primary care physician or going to your local emergency room.  Im sure if the policy is active, they should be able to cover your medical expenses anyway.  good luck

  3. Call the clinic, explain situation, they may be able to get your new #s...have your old cards available.

On Monday, speak to your human resources person & tell them you can't get info.

    Good luck
