  1. Lynne: Immigration is what all incoming aliens/people, immigrants and non-immigrants have to deal with when entering a country.

Customs is for their luggage, they are the people who decide *what* you can and cannot bring into a country. Immigration decides *who* can and cannot enter a country.

As for the original question, it would be in your best interest to get that written consent from the other parent, just in case the issue should ever arise.

  2. Yes

  3. I believe you'll just deal with customs, not immigration. Didn't you have to obtain a passport for him? If so, you most likely have to have mom's written permission saying she knows he is being taken out of country. We had to do this for our daughter who is going to Europe on Friday. Both my husband and I had to sign her passport papers saying she has our permission to leave the US with one, both or neither of us. She is going with a group from school and teachers are in charge of her. Call your local passport agency and ask the agency. When entering US, customs will know you are the father and this should be good enough for them here. They will see his passport and know mom has already given permission. You could always bring a certified letter from mom saying the child has permission to be out of country with you, but you probably don't need this.

Also - you're just vacationing here, not relocating here. Immigration isn't going to be involved at all.

  4. it all depends where you are from? and which country you are originally from? and who has custody?

if you do not? then yes you will need and written agreement # legalized # document from the mother.....

  5. I will answer this question,as some of the others seem to start writing before their brain is in gear, and about things they no nothing.

The answer to your question is that you do not need any permission whatsoever from his mum to take your child with you to the USA. All that US immigration will be interested in is that you have is your child's passport and return ticket, and your own, and plenty of money for your holiday, and of course, if you are travelling on British passports or those of most West European countries, you don't need a visa either, unless you are planning to stay for more than 90 days. If you want to stay for longer than that, it will take you just a few days to get  B1B2 visas valid for 10 years or the date your passport expires, whichever is the earlier.AND THAT'S A FACT!

  6. he have a passport and your the father i dont think so but call the us state dept or check out firstgov.gov and you can find info there
