Do I need xbox live?

I have halo 3 and I want the new maps standoff foundry and rats nest do I need xbox live to get these maps?

YES but if you only want the new maps but dont care about playing online you can just get a silver membership. But every xbox 360 comes with 3 one minth trials so you can get 3 free months of Gold membership. But if you like Gold membership it consts $50 USD per year

You need your Xbox to be connected to the internet to purchase anything on the marketplace, then you need to make an account, but it doesn't cost anything. It's whats called a silver membership, a gold membership is what you have to pay for, and from there you're good!

Yes, you do. All you need is the silver membership and that one is free. If you want to play live with other people, you'll have to buy the gold membership. Here's the cheapest I've found, and there's no tax:

well since you bought the xbox360 then you should already know that xbox live is a must own thing. i suggest getting the xbox live 1 year card it.
