Question:

Do I only get my cost or retail price for my claim for damaged hay?

I have a claim against a power company for fire damage to my hay farm from sparks from a power pole. I was told that I am only entitled to my cost and not the retail price of the hay. I have to grow it again and feel I should be paid for the retail value as I could have sold it. Who is correct?

  1. It will depend on your are. I think you would try for all losses. Maybe try a free legal site to start with to find out if tis worth a real lawyer.

  2. They are.  You get cost, not retail.  No markup.

  3. cost.  that was what you already spent.

NOT a future benefit like retail

also you can write it off your taxes.

    [the retail value]
