Do I pay my commercial or theatrical agent their 10% if I book a job as an extra on a commercial or film/tv?

I live in LA. Just wondering specifically about Extras (Background) work. Thanks.

  2. Yes, your agent only gets paid if you book a job though them. Also, it may be more than 10%, depending on what market you live in and the contract (smaller market tend to have higher percentages while NYC and LA tend to be 10%).

    The money is deducted from your paycheck before you receive it (so you don't actually pay them personally).

    ** The answer is still the same whether it's extra or principal work. Extra's are booked through agencies, so you pay the agency who books you 10%. If it's a separate agency then the one you work with, then you may have to pay your agent an additional 10%.

  3. You have to pay your agent 10 PERCENT of EVERYTHING YOU MAKE.. and it doesn't matter if you got your own gig or they got it for you.
