  1. If you are selling mutual funds, stocks, etc, and withdrawing the money from the traditional IRA, you will pay ordinary income tax. If you sell one fund and buy another within the trad. IRA, you do not pay tax of any kind as a result of the sale and purchase.  


  2. There are no taxes when you sell.  Only if you withdraw funds.
