Question:

Do I pinch my sweet pea flowers so they can bloom?

I'm growing sweet pea flowers from seeds and right now they're just tall stalks about 14" tall with leaves. If I want them to bloom do I have to pinch them or do they just need a lot of sun? I have them sitting on my kitchen window sill.

Thanks

♥ Peace

  1. if you want, i dont care

  2. There are lots of varieties of annual Sweet Pea (lathyrus odartus) and they all like deep, rich soil and full sun. They are not really happy house plants. Sorry to say, your sweet peas will probably be better outside in the sunshine. It's probably not too late to transplant them to a sunny outdoor spot with a trellis for them to climb on. Plant them, pinch the tips back for bushiness and you should have more blooms than you know what to do with. When they do bloom,  pick all the flowers and you’ll have even more blooms! If you can't move them out doors, put them in the SUNNIEST indoor location possible, make sure they stay moist, but not waterlogged, and keep your fingers crossed...ESPECIALLY your green thumb!
