Question:

Do I really deserve 4 RBIs and a run? It should have been out(if not for the error). JV Baseball.?

Okay. I am a pretty bad hitter for JV baseball. .271 average. all my hits except one were singles. Anyways here's the situation. 1st game of last year.

It's 5-0, other team. Scrimmage. Bases are loaded for our team. Top of the 6th. (We play 7 innings). 1 out. 3-1 count. I hit the ball into medium right field. The right fielder, who was just called in to replace, is really bad and misses the ball. It rolls all the way to the wall. His whole team are like "d**n it." Anyways, so I'm running around the bases and the RF tries to throw it into the infield but throws it half the distance. The 1st basemen charges it and fires it home and I am safe at the plate right before the throw. However, I never saw that kid again. I feel bad for him. They should have given him a 2nd chance instead of kicking him out. I received 4 RBIs and a reach on error (acualy 2) but I feel sorry for him.....turns out i would only get 11 RBIs the whole season anyways

  1. Was ruled an error in the scorebook or just a bad play, because if the kid never makes contact with the ball it's technically not scored an error, therefore you would get all of the rbi's.

  2. It depends on where the error was.  And when.  if it was ruled that he should have caught the ball, then the ruling would be one ron via the sacrifice fly and you would not be charged a time at bat.  If the error was on the throw, it is up to the official scorer to determine how the play should have gone.  Posibly, a single with two rbi's or a double with two or three.

In any event, four Rbi's is definitely wrong, but the run is yours.

  3. you get 1 rbi

  4. If you reached on the error you should have gotten only 1RBI.  It would have counted as a sacrifice fly since there was a runner on third and less then 2 outs.
