  1. Not familiar with the TV, but if it has DVI instead of HDMI you could use a DVI to HDMI cable.  Audio (sound) would require separate cables.  Video is the same, but DVI does not have audio built-in.

You are not going to get a resolution higher than 480p with a connection other than HDMI or DVI.

  2. Yes, you do.

    1)  HDMI/DVI is the only way to send 1080p video to your high-def tv.

    2)  To use all those neat vieralink features on your blu-ray player, you will need to connect via HDMI.

    3)  Why not?  HDMI is an all digital audio video connection.  It use one cable to do the work of 5 cables.

  3. HDMI Provides both digital video and digital video via a single cable.  The HDMI cables are so cheap online now, they are a NO BRAINER!

  4. No, but you would be stupid not to get one....

  5. If you can use one, why not. HDMI will provide a truly lossless connection from your Blu-Ray player to your HDTV. On some sets, this makes a radical difference in picture quality. If prices are scaring you off, know that since HDMI is a digital interface, even the very cheapest cables will send 100% bit perfect data that is electrically and visually indistinguishable from the transmission of a Monster-brand cable.

Try doing your shopping at Monoprice; a 10 foot cable will cost you between 4 and 10 dollars based upon grade.
