  1. Its best to put your bubs straight into a cot, so that he will get used to it. Its a whole new problem when transfering them from a moses basket to the cot, so its best to do it now.

  2. When you stay over in hospital after baby is born they r put into this small cot like plastic thing thats snug and helps them to feel safe and secure...so I used a moses basket and out my daughter in the moses basket and then into the cot so that she didn't feel unsecure in a big open space....she then stayed in the moses basket on the stand next to my bed as the cot was at the end of the bed and having her at the side of me meant I didn't have to get up and go far lol....She was in the basket for bout 3months as shs grew to long for it...now she is in the cot next to my bed and is fine!

  3. I found the moses baskets really handy to just put bubs in and wheel around from room to room wherever you may be during the day. But yes, of course it is fine to put baby straight into a cot. I had my kids in a cot at night, and the basket during the day.

My son is 2 and still in his cot. I move them into a bed at around 2 1/2, but most do it much sooner, between 1 and 2.

  4. i only used a moses basket cos i was given it.. its a complete waste of moeny i tink. my son is alrdy 8 weeks and dsnt fit comfortably in it so im puttin him in the bed with me until his cot arrives. plus wer im from its so hot and he used to end up wakin up drenched poor guy, so i got rid of it!

the bed im gettin for him is gud from birth til bout 3 yrs (they told me) -- though he'll be out of it before then im sure!

    gud luck :)

  5. no, you don't need one. By 3 or 4 months (and those months go super fast), there's no way that the baby will want to stay in it. It's more the newborn period. So after 3 or 4 months it's just one extra thing that you're going to have to shove in your closet or sell.

  6. I had a moses basket for my son and will def be getting one for baby #2.  I find they are handy as you can have them downstairs with you then carry them upstairs at night. I used mine for about 4/5 months then put him in his cot. I think about age 1 to 18 months is when they should come out of their cot in to a bed. Its entirely up to you whether you get a moses basket though, bear in mind that you cn get them fairly cheap as well x

  7. No чou don't have to buч a moses basket, babies can go straight into a cot. The time babies need to be in a cot varies, it's usuallч around 2 however, if the babч is verч adventurous and climbs out of the cot move it from cot to bed sooner.

    I hope i've helped♥

  8. I found the moses basket handy bacause you could put it in the stand right beside the bed so weren't having to get out of bed to lift baby during the night ( but then I was breastfeeding so didn't need to make bottles at night so suppose that wouldn't matter if you were getting up anyway.) As long as the cot fits in your room its fine because they should stay in your room the first few months ( they officially advise 6 months).

If you do put them in the cot put them at the bottom so they can't wriggle under the covers or even better a baby sleeping bag, the original is a grobag but lots of places do their own version now.

As for how long in the cot entirely depends on the child, we got a cot bed and turned it into the bed when our son was just over a year (make sure you get a stairgate, plug covers etc first) but he was walking then, I think once they can walk so can get in and out of bed confidently thats the time to put them in a bed.

  9. i had a swinging crib in the living room that i used to use when my son was down stairs. this was mainly because i had two other children and wanted to make sure i walk out of the room and know my son was still safe! you could use a pram to lay them in during the day instead. your not really supposed to use a bouncy chair until they are a little older and the midwife shouted at me when she called one day and found i had put one of my other children in a beanbag even though i was sat in the same room

  10. i always put mine straight into a cot...they have to lie with their feet to the bottom so they don't go under the blankets though.

i tried a moses basket with my eldest and he hated it...i think it felt trapped or enclosed or something

  11. Personally I think a Moses basket isn't really needed, but it is conveinient to have one as you can easily move your baby around the house or you can take it to a friends but it will only be useful for the first few weeks as your baby will soon grow out of it. If you are going to buy one, just buy a basic, cheap one as if you buy an expensive one it'll really be a waste of money as your baby won't be in it for long enough. I borrowed one from a friend and gave her it back after about 3 weeks as my baby was too big for it.

  12. Babies can lay on anything that is not fluffy or extremely soft and has four sides so they can't roll off.  I have always put my children in a crib with a sheet of it and swaddled them with a very thin baby blanket.  If you have a blanket or stuffed animals or say a pillow, they can suffocate if they roll into it or pull it on top of their head.

  13. Yes you can put a baby in a cot straight away! They look small but it can be done!

Buy a cot bed! I did and it will save money in the future! I will keep my daughter in her cot untill she can climb out, then I will take the railings on and change it into the bed version,.

  14. Moses baskets are useful because you can usually move them around so if you're downstairs you can have the baby downstairs with you too etc However we had a really long baby at birth and within 4 weeks she had grown out of it - it was the biggest waste of £120 ever.

  15. no need 4 a moses basket

but them in a cot till 8-months or when you stop breast feeding

  16. i dont think you relly need a moses basket as long as wen ther in  a cot you put there feet right to the bottom of it we n asleep and ive got my 3rd on the way and i have a 1 year old and i would suggest a baby going into a bed from wen they can walk, which is what i did so its easier for em to get in and out of bed therew selfs and this varies it could be before there one or after wen there walking so you never no,xx

  17. I had a moses basket with my daughter but only really used it for 2 weeks, then she went went in her cot in her own room, as she slept right through.

I plan to use the moses basket more with my second as will be protection from my daughter and we will probably keep this one in our room for longer to prevent my daughter waking it and vice versa. It will also be somewhere handy to put it during theday, but you could always use a travel cot/playpen for this.

Our daughter will be going into a bed when our new baby needs the cot, probably when she is about 16 -18 months depending on the new baby.

This is early as it is usually 18 months but we got pregnant quicker than we expected with our 2nd.

    Hope this helps

  18. I don't know how long babies need to be in cots for but I do know that you don't actually need a moses basket. Experts say it's a way for mothers to "show off" their babies in a pretty basket. And apparently it gives them an opportunity for sleep which isn't good come naptime.

You can find more information on these things on babywebsites.

  19. no need for moses basket. they can stay in a cot until they are about 2 or trying to climb out.

  20. They can go straight into a cot but at first it's really big for them. They're only in it for 3 months or so, so it's up to you. Can you afford one? If so I'd get one. They are in their cots until they can get in and out of a small bed themselves. About 18 months I'd say.
