Question:

Do I really need a real estate agent?

My husband and I are planning to buy a brand new house in the next three months. We found the perfect home. Someone mentioned that we should get a real estate agent. What can an agent do for you that you can't do for yourself? Is it true that they can save you money on a new home? Also, we have an existing home and we are considering a short-sale. Does anyone know how long a short-sale takes to be finalized?

  1. Selling without an Agent can work OK, I've done it several times. Buying without an Agent is a bad idea. Things might go wrong and you'll need help.

HINT: Get an agent to sell your house, use them to buy the new house. Get them to CUT their commission on the sale of your existing house.
