Do I seem to understand what Major Depression is?

Is major depression sadness completely without reason, or is it when a person tends to blame everything bad that happens on themselves? Is it also when a person directs anger at themselves rather than directing their anger at more effective and appropriate things like the people that are causing the problems?

Sparknotes says that, "It is not an expected reaction to external stimuli, but a reaction that is extremely out of proportion, or an onset of a mood that occurs with no precursor at all. The mood change is inherently different from that of normal sadness; it may be accompanied by other symptoms or be preceded by a history of similar episodes."

Why does a person suddenly become depressed? Is it because bad experiences from their past are finally coming back to them?

  1. People can become depressed for many reason. It could be a bad experience, not going where they want in life or doing what they want in life. they may lose a job, a child or any love one, can't pay the bills etc...It's just to many reason.

No matter what the case may be depression usually causes a person to be extremely lazy. In other words, they usually do not have energy. Since they do have lack of energy, they do nothing more than think about themselves. They get upset because depression also causes poor perception which cause them to perceive things differently from a person with normal mental health. Depression can also cause one to commit suicide just to make the pain they are feeling go away which causes pain to others around them. These people usually do not talk about suicide and need to be watched. Major depression makes a person feel helpless. When there is mood changes with the depression such as anger issues, it is then call bipolar. Well I hope this helps you.
