Question:

Do I still have a chance to graduate?

I'm going into 11th grade (Junior Year) and I have a 1.74 GPA unweighted.

I did fairly well on the PSAT last year (1400) so I'm not too stressed about the SAT but only about raising my GPA. Can I still pass without getting straight A's?

  1. It depends on your state. Some states allow lower passing rates but some don't. Your SAT's don't factor into GPA, so don't worry about that. A 1.74 GPA is about a 67-68, so, at least in NY, this is passing. If your school requires a 2.0 (75%), then it might be hard. But let's look at an example (Don't worry- I did the math)

    67% (9-10)

Let's say you get a B in every class. Assuming you get a B final average for 11th and 12th grade, you are looking at the following:

    67+67+85+85=304/4=76=2.1

So, if you get a B in every class (on average), then you should definately pass. As far as that "B", that is average. So if you get an A+ in one class and a B- in another, it will come out about the same. f you work hard, I think you can do it! Good luck!

  2. I would talk to your guidance counselor about the situation. I really do think you can pass without making straight A's. You just need to do the BEST you absolutely can.
