Question:

Do I use a parenthetical citation if...?

I know I use a citation if I'm using a direct quote or for anything I had to do research on.

I'm writing an essay about a book. If I talk about general things that happened in the book, things I didn't have to go back and look at, do I need to use a citation?

Thanks(:

  1. No.

  2. are you in IB?

Well use a parenthetical citation only when directly intergrating a quotation into your essay. So if you quote directly from the text then

put a citation if not then dont worry bout it
