  1. If you mean italic in handwritten form, then yes, in fact almost all letters that are not typed are actually written using italic (the Italian word is "corsivo", while the typographic character is called "italico"). That happens for instance for personal letters a person write to a member of family, a friend, etc. while any other kind of document is typed.
