  2. Yes, but blowing on food when it's hot has very little effect on it's rate of cooling, and it's just a habit.

  5. Yes, but its isn't really considered polite. However, most Japanese foods are served cold so this shouldn't be much of an issue. For the few served hot, ( ex. Soup ) blowing in order to cool is permitted.

  6. Sure, but the other thing Japanese do is slurp noodles and that helps to cool them as you eat it. For Westerners this loud way of eating may seem rude but it's completely normal in Japan. In fact, as I was eating with my friend's family, suddenly the room got quiet, everyone stared at me and commented on how quietly I ate.
