  1. Actually in all of my time on the adoption forums and groups, I HAVE known several hispanic and african american families that adopt from China and Vietnam. I have also known african american families who have adopted caucasian children. I have not personally known any asian families who adopt caucasian children but I'm sure they exist.

Also, Mary G, canadian citizens adopt from the US foster care system all the time. The US does allow adoption of its children from foreign countries. Mostly the children being adopted by other countries are minority. (People in other countries adopt more from Haiti and Africa than Americans do also. Interesting fact).

  2. Asian people are very into saving faces and family honor,  they didn't want people to wonder if they have problems such as infertility or if the child of a different race is their love child.

  3. This happens because there aren't orphans enough in the US to supply the demand. There is no reason for a Mexican to adopt an Asian kid if there are so many orphans in their own country.

And as a Japanese it wouldn't be clever to adopt a non-ethnic Japanese kid because Japan is 99.9% Japanese country and the kid would feel like an odd thing.

    Edit

Isn't it funny that he's talking about Mexicans and sudenly people here start talking about "Hispanic Americans". I think that when he mentions Mexicans he wants to know about people in Mexico, not people in the USA that eventually has Mexican ancestry.

    Aff, God...

    And I receive bad thumbs...

  4. I'm an American of mexican desent and i have adopted 3 Cambodian boys.

  5. You haven't seen the movie AMERICAN NINJA !!!!!!!

  6. Now this is a funny question! I don't honestly know the answer to that, but it makes me want to check and see. Now people from other countries adopting US kids? Well there have been adoptions done in Canada and Great Britain, but very few that I could tell you off the top of my head other than Milibrand and his wife. For some reason I seem to recall the US not allowing adoption to other countries from here. However they do allow and let US citizens adopt outside the country. Hmm a puzzlement isn't it? When so many children are stuck in Foster Care and there are so many people all over the world who want children. (speaking with my tongue firmly in cheek) Maybe we should open up Foster Care adoption to other coutnries! Then every child who truly needs another home would get one! After all adoption is a beautiful thing isn't it?

<sarcasm off> Ok I am sorry I just couldn't restrain myself, sounds ridiculous doesn't it? But really what do you think people in other countries think of people that come to their country to adopt their children and take them away from their homeland? Read about the attempted mass air lift of children in Chad that has been in the news. You will see how people from Western Europe and the US are starting to be viewed, even aid workers in worn torn regions..

  7. These are not quite the same thing, but when I worked in a Bolivian orphanage an Asian family from France adopted one of our babies.

Last week I met an African-American woman that adopted a Chinese preschooler.

  8. that's pretty funny.
