I know that Christians think that only Christians will be spared the tortures of h**l because they have accepted a human sacrifice, the blood of Jesus .

What are Jewish beliefs about after life?

Do they believe other non-Jews will be tortured in h**l?

  1. There are very few things in the Torah that describes life after death, because of the concept of Torah She'beal Pe, (which means the Oral torah). This Oral Torah was given to the Jews when Moshe wrote the torah, so that no other nation in the future would be able to take the Torah, and use it against the Jews. Since it's been 2-3 thousand years by then, books were written by Rabbi's keeping all the unwritten laws and secrets of Judaism that only Jews know (because its a sin for a Jew to teach a Non-Jew torah unless he is converting, or needs it for important reasons).

These unwritten concepts are called "Midrashim", which first were writings about torah by Rashi, Rashbam, Ibn Ezra, then the Mishna and the books of Gemara, and Tanach. Most of these Rabbis wrote these things in their own mix of Hebrew, Lashon Hakodesh, and Aramaic, so only Jews would be able to read this Rabbinic language, which they keep to themselves.

Therefore, on the point, since many Rabbi's argued with eachother, there is no clear understanding of the afterlife except some concepts that all Religous Jews believe in: The concept of Olam Haba, the afterlife, where EVERYONE will live in never ending happiness (or at least 1,000 year before becoming once again part of God, since it sais in the torah that peoples souls were created through parts of him), the concept of h**l as not a punishment, but to clean the soul, and atone for ones sins, and AFTERWARDS, will go to Olam Haba. And... the concept of Messiah, where Eliahu Hanavi will return from the dead and Redeem the Jews from anti-semitism (Since the torah had a prophesy that Jews will always be hated, struggling, and always attempted to be killed, [but to no avail]untill the end of exile). The Jews believe that they are only different from Nonjews in the fact that their reward will be the greatest, and the terribly wicked will have to be their slaves instead of h**l, if for some reason they can not get in there. Yet, only some Jews belive in a concept of Eternal h**l, because of a Midrash that sais of certain, VERY VERY few people whom will never leave when they enter h**l, be a Jew or not.

  2. if you have no recollection of where you were before birth why would you think you'd have a sense of where you were after-death.... first you must ask yourself 1)where did a God come from???? 2)if God has always been why not just say the universe has always been.... 3)humans needn't a supreme deity to do good(for if I wish not for my items to be stolen, I shall not go about and steal others)=logic something we are born with i.e.fire hot=burn self(don't touch fire) quite basic as is most things in life as we are composed of universal matter..... have a nice day

  3. It's not the "fundamentalists who believe that accepting Jesus is the only way to heaven, it is all Evangelical Christians.  They do believe that Christianity is the one true religion. That may sound awfully dogmatic and narrow-minded, but Jesus said that He alone was the way to the Father (John 14:6), that He alone revealed the Father (Matt. 11:27; Luke 10:22). Christians do not go around saying Christianity is the only way because they are arrogant, narrow-minded, stupid, and judgmental. They do so because they believe what Jesus said. They believe in Jesus, who claimed to be God (John 8:58; Exodus 3:14), who forgave sins (Mark 2:5; Luke 5:20; 7:48), and who rose from the dead (Luke 24:24-29; John 2:19f). Jesus said that He was the only way. Jesus is unique. He was either telling the truth, He was crazy, or He was a liar. But since everyone agrees that Jesus was a good man, how then could He be both good and crazy, or good and a liar? He had to be telling the truth. He is the only way. Christianity is not just a religion; it is a relationship with God. It is a trusting in Jesus and what He did on the cross (1 Cor. 15:1-4), not on what you can do for yourself (Ephesians 2:8-9). 4. The person who said that his church (Catholic) teaches that all who love God will get to heaven is mistaken.  Every priest will tell you that salvation is by Grace which is "further given" by participation in Holy Communion, Baptism and confession.  Without being a part of these within the settings of a Catholic Church it is very difficult to enter heaven.

  5. Actually they do, but it's different.  The Jewish afterlife includes: Genedom - for the righteous (Garden of Eden) and Genenom and a place of painful suffering, not as punishment but for purifying.  Check out more at: http://www.torah.org/learning/ramchal/classes/class47.html?print=1
