I'm moving to Korea on the 16th of August to teach English in an elementary school. I want to take part of my vacation in December or January, but I don't know if Korean students have a winter break at that time. Thanks! :-)

  1. I taught up until the 20th of December I believe and then the next school year starts in February I believe.  It is a different system than us.  I think Winter holiday is bigger than summer holiday.

    Have fun!

  2. Most schools' winter vacation begins in the late December(around Christmas).

In Seoul, where I live, elementary schools tend to have winter vacation a week or two weeks in advance than middle schools and high schools.

Most elementary schools will have vacation before Christmas (around Dec 19th) while most high schools will have it after Christmas (around Dec 29th).

One more thing you should know is that in Korea winter vacation is almost as equally long as summer vacation.

  3. Unlike America, school starts in the winter and ends in late fall. They also have a pretty long summer break. If you're starting to teach in August, you're starting in the middle/end of the year. Good luck =]
