  1. Yes, they work.  It depends on what brand and model for how well it will work I know if I am driving with mine it will go off before a cop clocks me.  The only problem will be how fast the warning is.  Sometimes it is a mile away while other times it is exactly when the cop clocks you, like with laser.

You just have to be smart.  You are not invincible because you have one.  You can still easily get a ticket but you have to use it as a tool.  It isn't a police detector but only detect radar/laser.  As long as you remember that you are good.

You should look at Escort and the Valentine 1 for good radar detectors.

    Good Luck!!!

  2. They work well when detecting the older K,Ka police bands. But Laser guns clock ur speed within a 1/4 of second.Almost impossible to beat it. U could get a Laser jammer that jams their signal where they cant clock ur speed and it works! And if ur lucky they'll think its a malfunction with their device, but if they know its a jamming device they'll pull you over hoping to find it. U wont get a speeding ticket but u could get charged for obstruction. The best suggestion is don't speed.

  3. depends on what your willing to spend.

some only have pre programmed locations and you only get warned at them locations not the mobile units.

some you go onlin eeverymorning and update its position location of mobile units (by aw they have to state what locations they will be at)

some pick up the speed guns wireless output (radio waves) and tell the radar that your approtching one.

its up to you but they all work to an exstent but how good depends on what your willing to spend.

  4. some radar detecters just tell you that there is a radar with so many feet what ever the limit is for that radar detecter and some can jam a radar so when the when they clock you it will say somethin like 830 mph or somthing crazy like that but those you cant buy in stores but you can on like ebay or craigslist

  5. Sure, they work.  But, you have to look at it more like a helpful tool instead of relying on it solely to get you out of tickets.

The most effective way to keep your driving record clean is to speed with sense.  Know where your speed traps are in your daily commute.  Contest every ticket and subpoena the officer ... most the time they won't show.  If they do show at the hearing, ask for proof that the speed measuring device that they clocked you with is certified correct.  This is how a lot of tickets get thrown out.  Know how to beat the system ... instead of being one of the 98% of people who just pay the fine.

The best radar detectors are offered up by BEL, Escort and Valentine One.

  6. If your radar detector alerts to police laser and you're going too fast, you might as well pull over and wait for the ticket. A laser/radar detector will alert you to police laser, but once you detect police laser, it's too late to check your speed and adjust if necessary.

If you are concerned about police laser as well as radar, you'll need a laser jammer. The best radar detectors also detect laser, but the laser only has to hit your vehicle for 0.2 seconds to read your speed; not nearly enough time to adjust if your laser alarm alerts. The ONLY defense against police laser is a laser jammer, which jams the laser gun's speed reading until you turn the jammer off.

There are a number of radar/laser combo systems that provide alerts for radar and laser, and also jam police laser guns. The best available today is probably the Escort Passport 9500ci, though there are a number of near-perfect units on the market (invisible to RDD, jam laser to the gun, front, side and rear detection, etc.)

So, for city driving, either buy a good radar detector and forget about police laser, or buy a radar detection and laser jamming system to be fully protected. Remember: If your radar detector alerts to police laser and you're going too fast, you might as well pull over and wait for the ticket.

  7. I donno but thanks for points
