  1. although they're separate parks, because they're next to each other and form one continuous green space, I think many of us Londoners think of Kensington Gardens as an extension of Hyde Park

  2. well people get confused it both parks together make a huge amount of green pace but one half of the green area is kensington gardens and the other half east of the ring carriage drive and the serpentine is hyde park.

but if i was walking through kensington gardens and someone rang and asked me wear i was i would probably say hyde park :) hope this helps.

  3. Kensington Gardens is adjacent to Hyde Park, rather than part of Hyde Park, though walking it, I'd be hard put to say exactly where one ends and the other starts.

The Round Pond is definitely Kensington Gardens.

It may be my favorite London walk:

Queensway tube to the Houses of Parliament via the Round Pond, the Serpentine, Hyde Park corner, Green Park, Buckingham Palace, St James's Park...

  4. Well I can only really speak for myself, but I think of the two parks as completely different things (though once upon a time, it was all part of Hyde Park, before Queen Anne pinched its western end to extend the gardens of Kensington Palace.)

Two reasons for considering them as separate things.

First, they're divided by West Carriage Drive, which is a pretty busy road and is certainly a noticeable boundary to cross... Second, their landscaping and planting is completely different in style.

Well, there's my tuppence-worth, with love from a Londoner born and bred. But what do you think?

    =D

  5. Although they're together, they are separate parks.....

  6. i think of them as separate... (not exactly a londoner, but have been studying here for some time)
