  1. Yes.  Many Lutherans do wear crucifixes (including me).  Many Lutheran churches (including the chapels at the two LCMS seminaries) have a crucifix on the altar.  During the age of Lutheran Pietism, many Lutherans began to move away from the use of crucifixes as well as Lutheran doctrine and worship practices. Today, you will find crucifixes in many "old" Lutheran churches, as well as those returning to orthodox Lutheran doctrine.

It is sometimes argued that an empty cross is a symbol of the resurection of Christ, but this is not true as the cross would be empty even if Christ were not raised from the dead. Wearing a crucifix is a powerful daily reminder of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for the sins of the world.

"When I came to you, brothers, I did not come with eloquence or superior wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified."
    1 Corinthians 2: 1-2 (NIV)

"Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength."
    1 Corinithians 1: 22-25 (NIV)
