last time, i couldn't stop laughing. nothing was funny, there was nothing amusing me and i didn't feel like laughing but still i kept making laughing sounds. more like uncontrolable than funny.

It's different for different people but generally they amplify the mood you are in and make you a bit odd eg if you are sad you will cry like a bad and if you are happy you might giggle hysterically.

It very much depends on the person, and their current temperment at the time. Some people have very pleasant experiences, but sometimes, like one of my friends, you'll have a real bad trip to the point of wanting your own death to make it go away.
