Many of American Schools and few American Universities in UAE (Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah & Ajman). You may able to find many American communities in UAE.

There is every nationality you can think of here.  Heaps of Aussies, Yanks and Poms.   I don't think I've ran into too many Canadians though, but I'm sure there around.  There are heaps of American restaurants around too.  I joined AWA (American Women's Association) and make heaps of friends.

Yes, there is a large ex pat community and they even have their own website. I would google it. Also look on the State Departments website. They usually have resources for Americans moving abroad. There are also American-International schools (K-12) as well as American University sites. One is in Dubai, the other begins with an S(harja?)...I can't remember. Most people have some range of English language skill.
