  1. no, but accusing them of thinking overstates what they do.

  2. Independent thinking?

By all accounts, McCain really wanted to pick Joe Lieberman but the Rush Limbaugh wing of the Republican party vetoed and and threatened a floor fight over the VP.

So McCain picked a hardcore right-wing Christian ideologue who counters every maverick position McCain has ever made.

  3. You betcha! McCain's got him a "spunky girl" sidekick.

  4. A very BIG YES.

  5. Not if McCain has to answer to the far right, which he did in choosing Palin. Why else would he--I mean, really, just look at how "thin" their "she's more experienced vs. Obama" argument is:

Obama is a former president of the Harvard Law Review, community organiser, member of the Illinois state senate, and law lecturer, who has run campaigns for the House of Representatives and the Senate. At the Senate he has been a member of the foreign relations committee and been involved in legislation to control nuclear weapons and boost public accountability in the use of Government funds. He has spent more than a year creating and debating domestic and foreign policy for his campaign.

Palin does have governing experience - unlike McCain, Obama or Biden - but of a state with less than 700,000 people and for less than two years.

The old McCain would indeed have represented "can do spirit" and "independence." This one is a laughingstock on that count.

NOTE: Do notice that my source is a NEW Zealand newspaper. Can you imagine what the world will think of us if she becomes the VP (not that neocons care, that is)?

  6. Yes!
