Question:

Do Metro tickets expire?

by  |  earlier

I travel to Paris two or three times a year and have a Carte Orange pass to get me around the city centre. I have to make the occasional trip to the outskirts, for which I buy ordinary Metro tickets singly, but it is better value to buy a carnet of 10 tickets. I would not use them all in the same trip and was wondering if they would still be valid next time I travel or if they only last a week/month etc (I'm not really that tight, I just don't like waste!).

  1. Hello,

    Metro tickets never expire.

  2. only the carte orange expires ordinary metro tickets don't

  3. That depend how much you travel in Paris, the ticket(-T) is valabe when you enter in the metro to the moment you left it, but if i remember zones 1-2 it is about 14€ by week, maybe it should be better to keep your card ?

  4. My understanding is that metro tickets have no expiration date.

Although I have no reference that explicitly says this I notice that in the discussion of the new t+ ticket on the RATP website there is this question and answer:

    19) I have got a carnet of mauve tickets. Are they still valid? For how long?

Yes, of course ! Relax, you have not wasted your money. You can use these tickets as at present on the RATP and the SNCF.

I would also note that I have used metro tickets that were a year old without problem.
