Question:

Do Mexican universities accept international transfers?

I think I will be moving to Mexico City next year partly out of necessity, but also, in a way, because I am drawn to the city. I am currently at a community college and I will be graduating before the end of this year with an Associates Degree.

My question is, do Mexican Universities, UNAM in particular, accept transfer students, or will I be forced to start from scratch?

Also, although I was born in the USA I'm in the process of becoming a Mexican Citizen because both of my parents are Mexican Citizens, so I'm technically not considered a foreigner. .

Thanks in advanced.

  1. yes   very likely

  2. You really shoud contact the admissions office and find out what you need to do in order to have your credits accepted. The problem, though, is that the education systems between various countries is different, and unfortunately, the US system tends to be behind that of other countries. Thereore, some universities in other countries will not even accept you as a first year or even as an exchange student until you have completed 2 years of uni in the US. That emans you can forget going as a transfer student- you would have to start over. But because each uni is different, you really have to contact UNAM and ask them. Only they can tell you if they will accept your credits.

Good luck and have fun in Mexico!!!
